Born in 1959, Doug developed a love of art as a child and started painting in oil at the age of thirteen. As a young adult, he studied at esteemed art schools, including the Academy of Art College, San Francisco, the Fechin Institute, and the Scottsdale Artists' School. He received personalized instruction from distinguished Artists John Asaro, Ovanes Berberian, David Leffel, Kevin Macpherson and Charles Sovek.

Gorrell was featured in the International
Artist Magazine as a
Master Painter of the world - USA.

 A floral painting of Doug's was chosen by Northlight Publications and featured in their book, "Best of Flower painting 2". Northlight also chose his painting of a French cafe for their Artist Calendar.

A Plein-air enthusiast, Doug has traveled and painted from the east to the west coast in the United States. He spent a year in Sicily, and has made numerous trips to France, Italy, Spain and Mexico.

His work has been featured in National shows and has won numerous awards.

"I love the process of painting, in the studio or out in the field. My main objective is to use my God-given talent to create something that has meaning to others, and ultimately enriches their lives."
